WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR PMU BROW APPOINTMENT

The average time required for a procedure is between 1.5 to 3.5 hours, depending on the work needing to be done. A touch-up appointment lasts anywhere from 1-2 hours, depending on the amount of work that needs touching up.

A standard appointment will have the following steps:
  • Virtual consultation:

Profile the client:

First, I will assess the client’s lifestyle and taste in eyebrows by text or call.

Do you want something bold or natural? Do you wear makeup every day or just special occasions? What face shape do you have? Do you keep the same color hair? Do you change your hair? This interview will help me create the best brows for you.

  • Check to make sure the client is suitable candidate for PMU

➤ “Before” Photos will be take of the brow/eye area:

A condition of proceeding with a PMU Brow procedure is that you authorize me to take and display Before and After Photos. If you have a concern with this, please text me to discuss.

➤ Draw on the eyebrows:

Next, I will draw the eyebrows directly on your face with an eyebrow pencil and a thread. This will be my guide for the PMU Brow procedure. This also allows you to see the final look before any permanent work is performed. Nothing is performed until you approve this design!!!

➤ PMU Brow Application:

I begin the application of choice, following the design drawing I’ve agreed upon with you. Numbing agent will be applied during the procedure.

➤ Client Approval of Finished Design:

I’ll give you a complimentary Abs workout sitting you up, and laying you back down as many times as needed, to ensure both you and I agree that the design is final, and both brows are symmetrical.

Your session are booked with a time cushion between to ensure me – your PMU artist – is NEVER rushed to finish your PMU session, as we believe perfectionist quality far exceeds the importance of the quantity of sessions that can be squeezed into a day like at other studios where you feel like you’re just a number… you’re trusting me with the most defining feature of your face, and I DO NOT take that trust/commitment lightly, and to me, you LOVING your finished Brows is essential!

➤ Remove the excess pigment:

Once the final PMU design has been approved, and the final pigment mask has been completed, I then wipe off any remaining pigment on your face.

➤ Photography & Aftercare:

I will now take the “After” photographs of your new Brows, then provide you with your after-care take home package. The After-Care instructions is always available on my website, so if you feel less than confident you retained all the info discussed because you’re too busy obsessing over how much you’re in LOVE with your new Brows, you have written back-up for reference as needed! 😉

Little to no redness occurs for most of my clients, you will be ready to go back out in public, no problem. Most clients don’t experience swelling, but in the rare event that swelling occurs, a clean tattoo wrapped cold compress can be applied as needed until the swelling subsides.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER PMU SERVICES
  • Don’t be concerned that your eyebrows initially appear 20 – 30% darker and thicker in size then you desire, this can last up to 2 weeks and is all part of the healing process. Your skin is red under the pigment, which causes the color of the pigment to appear darker and as your brows begin to flake they will narrow in size.
  • Around days 4 to 7, you will experience flaking/scabbing and your brows may look dry. DO NOT pick your brows, let any dryness fall off naturally. If flakes get picked off this can prematurely damage your PMU resulting in patchy brows that can lead to scarring.
  • DO NOT expect your brow tattoos to heal perfectly after your first session, this is a two-step process and it takes time! BE PATIENT during your first 10 day of healing as your brows will change and appear different from day to day.
  • It is normal to lose approximately 1/3 of the color during the healing process. Please be patient, healing takes up to 30 days.
BROW PRE-TREATMENT RESTRICTIONS

Thank you for choosing Katy Beauty & Lashes for your Cosmetic Tattooing experience.
Please read the following instructions to ensure the best results for your treatment.

The following restrictions are to ensure your skin is in the best possible condition for an amazing PMU Brow procedure. Please read carefully!

  • Do NOT drink / consume energy drinks, coffee or anything with caffeine for 24 hours prior to your appointment. I don’t want you moving all over during the procedure, plus it increases the likeliness of you bleeding during the procedure, which can negatively impact your pigment retention.
  • Do NOT drink alcohol 24 hours before the procedure. Yep, that’s a blood thinner too!
  • Do NOT take Aspirin, Niacin, vitamins A, E, B6, Niacin, Fish oil, Omega 3, Gingko Biloba, St. John’s Wort or Evening Primrose oil, unless medically necessary, 48-72 hours prior to the procedure. These supplements thin your blood, and increase the likeliness of bleeding during the procedure. Refrain from alcohol, aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil) and Alieve for 24 hours prior to your appointment. The only product for aches and pain that can be used and will not make you bleed is Tylenol or Acetaminophen.

NOTE: All of the above vitamins, supplements and medication may make you bleed excessively which during the procedure will negatively affect the longevity of your PMU and in some cases, may need to be prematurely stopped.

  • Discontinue Vitamin A, Retinol, Glycolic Acid and perscription Retin-A products for a minimum of 3 weeks prior to procedure.
  • Please do not work out the day of the procedure, as the body heat will expand the pores.
  • Avoid heavy / direct sunlight.
  • No Botox Treatments should be done 3 weeks prior, or for 4 weeks after your PMU procedure, please schedule accordingly to avoid complications!
  • No Accutane Treatments within the past 12 months. This is essential, please schedule accordingly.
  • Do not tan 2 weeks prior to your procedure.
  • Do not tint your eyebrows for a minimum of 7 days prior to your procedure
  • Any brow shaping including waxing, tweezing or threading should be completed a minimum of 2 days prior to your procedure.

Feel free to come to your appointment with your brow makeup on as this allows me to see what your used to. This is important if you have specific ideas on your brow shape. If open to suggestions I’m happy to provide options that will personally suit you

BROW AFTER-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Please READ THOROUGHLY! It is essential that you follow these instructions after your PMU Brow session.

  •  The day of the treatment:

In the first 24 hours after the treatment, absolutely no water touch the brows included your own sweat!

  • Days 1-7: Moisturize– Gently clean the brow area with Gentle Skin Cleanser (I highly recommend Cetaphil brand)  and water to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. ( Don’t worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT! ). With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

– After cleansing and drying the skin, apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment I have provided you in your after-care take home package with a clean cotton swab, and gently spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. NEVER put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo. Repeat this process 3 – 5 times per day through day 7 for Dry/Normal Skin Types. For Oily Skin Types, after Day 1, only apply the aftercare ointment if you feel tightness or stretching in the treated areas for the next 6 days.

NOTE:
Wash hands with antibacterial soap before you touch your eyebrows.
DO NOT RUB THE AREA IN ANY WAY.

– Showering
Please limit hot showers to 5 minutes or take warm showers instead for the next 7 days. Too much steam will affect the pigment and healing process of your skin. This will cause the pigment to push out. Please avoid getting your eyebrows wet except for the washing procedure above, for the next 10-14 days (the longer the better). You can avoid getting your eyebrows wet by washing your hair toward the end of your shower, or by applying the shield I have provided you in your after-care take home package, then washing your eyebrow as per the aftercare instructions above.

ESSENTIAL AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS (FAILURE TO FOLLOW CAN IMPACT THE INTEGRITY OF THE HEALED BROWS!!):

  • Do NOT pick / scrub or scratch your PMU Brows. Eyebrows will “shed” this is normal and occurs naturally. Picking the skin may result in improper healing and discolor saturation.
  • Do NOT attempt to pick at flaking brows, or you risk pulling out the pigment and/or causing scarring.

★ Please AVOID for 10 days:

  • All products such as creams, exfoliates or Vaseline, Aquaphor or any other products than the ointment I provided in your after-care take home package (including makeup) on eyebrow area.
  • No heavy sweating! This includes hot yoga. Sweat contains salt, which can infect and potentially prematurely fade or alter the color of your permanent makeup. Moderate exercise is fine.
  • Saunas/ Hot Tubs / Swimming (Pools, Lakes, Rivers, Ocean ETC)/ Whirlpools / Steam rooms or sauna.
  • Facials/Facial massage and any other skin treatments.
  • Please avoid sleeping on your new brows for the next 10 days, as this can impact the pigment retention. Make sure you use a clean pillowcase, just in case you do roll over in your sleep to avoid contaminants coming into contact with your new brows!

★ Please AVOID for 30 days:

  • Do not expose your brows to sun or use a tanning bed, always use an SPF.
  • Avoid laser light treatments as this can darken, lighten and distort the pigment
  • Avoid Light therapy, chemical peels, Microdermabrasion while healing.
  • NO Botox

★ ALWAYS AVOID:

  • Creams containing regeneration factors (Retinol, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Anti-Aging, Acne Creams) near the brow area.
  • Laser treatments over the PMU Brow area (Fraxel, IPL, etc), as they can destroy the pigments, and potentially cause burns.

★ Noteworthy:

  • Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to faster pigment fading.
  • ALWAYS protect your new brows from the sun with minimum SPF 50 (with the exception of the first 7 days), or a hat whenever sun exposure is anticipated to prevent premature fading of your new PMU Brows.

*Although rare, PLEASE consult a healthcare professional at the first sign of any potential infection*

LIP BLUSH PRE-TREATMENT RESTRICTIONS

If your lips are dry, I cannot perform the procedure. A reschedule will be necessary if your lips are dry, and your deposit will be forfeited. It is best to exfoliate your lips at least 5 days before your appointment to remove any dry skin. Purchase a lip scrub or make your own by mixing coconut oil and brown sugar. The week before your appointment, moisturize your lips as much as possible to keep them in good condition.

*IMPORTANT*

While permanent makeup is very safe, lip blush is associated with a very high risk of cold sores. I strongly recommend that if you have ever had a cold sore, you consult your doctor about anti-viral medication before any lip procedure in order to prevent an outbreak or get Cold Sore Prescription Treatment online at https://www.goodrx.com/ . When you’ve never had a cold sore but are concerned about getting one, you can take L-lysine, an over-the-counter vitamin, two weeks before and after your appointment.

LIP BLUSH AFTER-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Redness, swelling, tenderness, and dryness are the most common side effects following treatment. It is common to experience redness, swelling, tenderness, and dryness after treatment. However, these symptoms will disperse in a short period. Your lips may become flaky during the healing process. The flaking is normal and expected. Please do not pick or scratch them. Scratching or picking may result in a significant reduction in pigment absorption. To ensure best healing results and color retention for your lips, please read and follow the instructions below for two weeks. Results may vary from person to person and are not guaranteed.

AFTER-CARE:

  • Make sure you wash your hands with antibacterial soap before you wash your lips
  • Wash your lips twice daily for 7 – 10 days with a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser until flaking has stopped. Please DO NOT RUB YOUR LIPS area. Using a clean lint-free tissue or soft towel, gently pat your lips dry to ensure they are completely dry and no moisture remains.
  • Throughout the day, apply a very thin coating of the aftercare balm that I have provided you in your take-home package.
  • Do not allow your lips to become dry, as this could interfere with your healing results. After your treatment, you should continue using follow the after-care for at least 14 days. Simply tap the product on your lips, don’t rub it in. Apply ointment only with clean Q-tip, never with your fingers, to reduce infection risk.
  • Swollen lips can be treated with ice (not directly on them) for up to 15 minutes at a time. If swelling persists, sleep slightly elevated for the first few nights.
  • Try to avoid sun exposure and tanning beds during the healing process.
  • Do not use any fruit acids, hydroxy acids, or glycolic acids on your lips.
  • You should also avoid direct water pressure and pools until healing is complete.
  • Do not wear lipstick, lip gloss, etc. until your lips are healed.
  • Don’t eat oily, salty, acidic food or drink alcohol while your lips are healing.
  • Make sure your lips are not rubbed with any type of friction while they’re healing.
  • To preserve color, use lip gloss with sunblock over the tattooed area after the initial healing period (7-10 days), then continue to use a sunblock with UVA and UVB protection at least SPF 30.
EYEBROWS TINTING PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Thank you for choosing Advanced Ink for your Eyebrow Tinting experience.
Please read the following instructions to ensure the best results for your treatment.

  • Prior to your tinting appointment, kindly ensure that there is no fake tan on your skin, as it may impact the desired tint result.

  • For a smoother experience, refrain from using Retin-A or Alpha Hydroxyl skin care products for 7 days before the procedure, as they can increase skin sensitivity.

  • If you are currently using any skin medications, please inform your eyebrow specialist to ensure appropriate care during the treatment.
